Roadblocks. Delays. We had originally planned to open our little shop today. Here are a of couple reasons why we're not:

1) We managed to find a used Wega Atlas espresso machine, which will save us a lot of money, something of which we are extremely grateful, BUT actually getting the machine here has become a bit of a challenge (it's presently in Edmonton).

2) We found out that in order to serve espresso drinks, even if we are only providing coffee to go, we must install a two-compartment sink in the store. There's currently a sink about two feet from where we will be installing one but since it's technically in our living quarters and not in the store it doesn't count. This is difficult because there's no plumber in Bruno and the one living nearest is apparently very busy, so we'll just have to wait!

I'm expecting, no, I'm desperately hoping that these issues will resolve themselves within a week or two.

Hi, I've been following your' blog for a few weeks now (since the CBC Radio 3 spot). Sorry about the latest road block (bump).
If this cheers you up at all (why wouldn't it: -) You inspired me to finally start a blog. I hope it's ok that I put a link to your' site. I think it's interesting and I've been telling everyone about You both. I can give the link to my site if you'd like. Mostly I talk about politics, books, music, Toronto (I'm from Rochester, NY).
Anyway, I hate to say this, because people used to say it to me when I was unemployed, but, "Hang in There"...I don't want to have to find that poster of the kitty hanging onto a branch by one paw: - ) And, please, not that poem "Footprints".
You guys will make it. The pplace is lookin' cool. Can we see more photos soon?
Thanks,
Steve
ps. my word verification says "etukhakf"...somewhere, in some point in time, that must mean someting. "E' tu Kafka", perhaps?

Steve- Thanks for the encouraging words. I needed them! I've added a link to your blog, you've posted some great stuff. Now I'm thinking of turning our shop into a bookcrossing zone... :)

Oh and I'm definitely going to be posting more photos of the store.

isn't bookcrossing.com a cool site...I "released" a book into the wild today.
BTW, the actual site name is The Hell it Can't... it's from Sinclair Lewis's book, "It Can't Happen Here" )meaning facism in America, to which someone gives that as an answer.
Thanks!
