A very nice article about Going Rural and All Citizens was just posted on the CBC Radio 3 blog. Thanks John Paolozzi!

Saw the article on R3, and I can't help be envious of what you are doing. Such a cool way to thumb your nose at the ass-tronomical costs of city-feller livin' and feeling a way, I feel what an integral part of being Canadian is - small town life.

Good luck and I hope all goes well with it. Not sure I ever had a reason to visit Bruno, but I certainly feel like I do now!

Hi, I also caught the R3 article and I gotta agree with John (another John)...You both have some major Balls with a capital B. I live in Rochester, NY, and wish I could move to Toronto or another Canadian city (I HATE George Bush), but it is just so 'cost-prohibitive' . You guys are young (I'm 40, old man), brave and what you are doing is very inspiring. I went through your' archives, I'm hooked and will be checking back...not sure if or when I will be in Bruno, but now I wanna visit. I grew up in a small town, but Bruno makes even that look like a metropolis. Best of Luck to both of You. Really, I hope it works out for ya'.

Thanks for your comments! Small towns truly are an integral part of Canada and Bruno is definitely worth checking out!

I just thought I'd chime in that I'm also in love with the romantic idea of what you're doing. Can't remember where I found you... some other Vancouver blog.

I'm in Vancouver and have roots in a small northern BC town. I really respect what you're doing... and have so many questions about the reality of it all. It's a bold, admirable action any way you slice it.

It sounds fun, awful, exhilarating, daunting, inspriring, soul-crushing, cold, and I am jealous. It's easy for those of us who are not there, or making the investment of time, energy and money to say, "Cool, go for it" while we play it safe. BUT...At least you both have the cajones to do, something that I know, I would be afraid to try on my own. I'm sure you have thoughts of giving up everyday, but I think you both are on to something and it will work for you. Keep writing, and seriously... a book. I'd buy it and read it. The crumbling ceiling probably would've done it for me, I would've run through the streets screaming. Good Luck!

Geez, such nice comments! Yes, there have definitely been moments when I wanted to run wailing into the streets but the people we have met here have been genuinely nice and we've had a lot of support from friends and family. So, no matter what happens, we wouldn't change a thing!
